4 Steps To Reduce Tooth Decay Naturally

Tooth decay and cavity are one of the most common oral issues of the day. Although it may seem that going to your dentists is the only solution there is, sometimes Mother Nature steps up to the plate to offer a better alternative.

The truth is that, by changing your everyday diet, you can improve your teeth health immensely. The trick is to add more vitamin D and calcium-rich products to your everyday menu.

Aside from this, you will need to maintain your oral hygiene to the optimal level, without using fluoride-based products.

Take a look at the listed tips and tricks that can help you preserve the teeth health:

1. Consume more calcium-packed and nutritive foods
Try adding more raw dairy products to your diet. These foods are rich in phosphorus, minerals, magnesium, vitamins D3 and K2. As such, they are ideal for strengthening your teeth and overall dental health.

To achieve this, try eating more organic butter, goat milk, and raw cheeses. You can also season them with some spices like turmeric, salt, licorice, and garlic if you want to avoid cavities.

2. Avoid sugars
Probably the worst culprit of them all for anyone who desires healthy, cavity-free teeth, sugar should be avoided like the plague. Not only does sugar feed oral bacteria that prevents a healthy flow of dental fluids, it is highly acidic and can literally decalcify or demineralize the structural content of teeth that create dental decay.

This means to stay away from candy, soda, and cakes. As an alternative, you can use raw honey and maple syrup and drink juices sparingly as too much sugar can contribute to cavity formation.

3. Remove phytic acid
Phytic acids are anti-nutrients found in grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes. They interfere with our body’s abilities to absorb essential nutrients as well as pull essential minerals (calcium, iron, zinc, and copper) from our bodies. According to research published in The Lancet, a diet high in phytic acid will create mineral deficiencies and cause osteoporosis.

Subsequently, the powerful anti-nutritional effects of phytic acid have been known to cause digestive disorders, lack of appetite, nutrient deficiencies, and tooth decay. A good rule is to limit your grain consumption and stay away from all soy products, and GMO foods, and try to eat only organic.

4. Try oil pulling
Oil pulling is an age-old remedy rooted in Ayurvedic medicine that uses natural substances to clean and detoxify teeth and gums. It involves swishing approximately 1 teaspoon of oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes and then spitting it out.

Oil pulling works by cleaning (detoxifying) the oral cavity in a similar way that soap cleans dirty dishes. It literally sucks the dirt (toxins) out of your mouth and creates a clean, antiseptic oral environment that contributes to the proper flow of dental liquid that is needed to prevent cavities and disease.

You should swish a teaspoon of solid organic coconut oil in the mouth, and let it melt. Keep it for 20 minutes, which is enough time for the oil to be absorbed by the gums and kill bacteria and plaque, but insufficient for the body to reabsorb the toxins again. Spit out the oil in the trash and immediately rinse your mouth out with warm water (you can use salt water for added antimicrobial properties).

Bonus tip: Remineralizing toothpaste recipe
